The farm in Paterangi was sold and a sheep farm was purchased in Arohena, 50 km east of Te Awamutu and 1000 feet above sea level. Morris converted this farm to a 320 cow dairy unit but it remained a mixed farm. This was the first dairy farm conversion in the Arohena district. The whole region is now recognised as preferred dairying area.

Local opportunities available saw McFall Enterprises grow to include road construction and civil works. Developing a number of quarries to provide services for local land development saw the winning some major NRB & TNZ roading contracts and the general maintenance contract for the Waipa District Council along with a range of other Civil Engineering Contracts. The services included roading and site works, earthmoving, underground services, quarrying, road transport and specialized services such as drinkable water delivery, kerb and channel and concrete services plus state highway shoulder drainage.

The prestigious Sir Bob Owens Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Logistics, Supply Chain Sector & Community presented by The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport was awarded to Morris McFall. Having been a member of the Institute for 31 years Morris is considered an industry statesman.

October 5, 1964 Ian James began delivering fuel for BP. In 2004 Ian began working for McFall Fuel, who he still works for today. This achievement was celebrated on October 5, 2014 with a lunch in New Plymouth. James Glidden, Distributor Manager for BP, presented Ian with a plaque to mark the occasion.

Shared Services Gets Underway

The Finance & Administration of McFall Fuel and Direct Fuels were drawn together to create a Shared Services approach based in Mount Maunganui.

The Lubricant Logistics Team based in the Mount also took on a shared service approach to meet the delivery and repairs and maintenance needs of both companies.

The Operations Base was provided with more office space in Te Awamutu to enable all fuel delivery to be coordinated from here.

After more than three decades at the helm of McFall Fuel Morris McFall has chosen to step down as Board Chair.

His retirement was announced at the Annual McFall Fuel Conference held in Taupo on July 23, 2016. Morris has made an invaluable contribution to the development and growth of McFall Fuel.

Peter Ritsema who celebrated 30 years with McFall Fuel this year began in the fuel delivery market with Morris. The fleet has grown from one old Ford and the staff has increased to 73, with 36 drivers over this timespan.
