Is Your Farm Fuel-Ready for Lambing Season?

Is Your Farm Fuel-Ready for Lambing Season?

on May 29 2026
Lambing season arrives quickly, and once it begins, every hour counts. Fuel demand often spikes during this period with extra feeding runs, more machinery use, and increased stock checks across the farm. Planning ahead can make the difference between a smooth season and unnecessary stress. As winter sets in, it’s the perfect time to review how much fuel you usually use during lambing, check your tank levels, and make sure your storage is in good condition. Many farms experience sudden jumps in diesel use from late June into July, which means deliveries can get busier just when you need fuel the most. A proactive approach now means less downtime later. Whether you simply need a top‑up or want help forecasting your seasonal needs, the McFall Fuel team can help you prepare early and avoid running short during the busiest weeks of the year.

How Fuel Quality Impacts Engine Health (and Why It Matters More Than You Think)

How Fuel Quality Impacts Engine Health (and Why It Matters More Than You Think)

on Mar 16 2026
Fuel is one of those things people don’t think much about, until something goes wrong. But the quality of the fuel going into your machinery plays a massive role in how well your engines run, how often they break down, and how much you spend keeping everything going. Clean Fuel Keeps Engines Healthier Contaminants like dust, water, and microbial growth can quickly damage injectors and block filters. Once that happens, engines lose efficiency and repairs get expensive. Good fuel and clean tanks keep your machinery running smoothly. Better Fuel = Better Performance Low-quality fuel often shows up as rough idling, hard starting, loss of power, or higher fuel use. When your team relies on machinery every day, that kind of inconsistency costs time and money. Modern Engines Need Higher Standards Newer engines are more efficient but also more sensitive. They simply don’t tolerate poor-quality fuel or contamination. Clean, reliable fuel isn’t optional anymore, it’s essential. Storage Matters Too Even great fuel can degrade in a dirty or poorly maintained tank. Water, rust, and sludge all lead to problems. Regular tank checks and maintenance make a huge difference. Why it matters Quality fuel helps you: Reduce downtime Protect engines Lower repair costs Keep your operation moving At McFall Fuel, we’re here to make sure you get clean, consistent fuel and the support to keep it that way.

Smooth Transitions - Autumn Maintenance Tips

Smooth Transitions - Autumn Maintenance Tips

on Mar 06 2026
As summer winds down and autumn approaches, it’s the perfect time to give your vehicles and machinery the attention they need. Seasonal changes can affect performance, so proactive maintenance now can save costly downtime later. Here are some essential tips:   Check Lubricant Levels & Quality Engine oil: Inspect for contamination or degradation, heat and heavy summer use can break down oil faster. Hydraulic fluids: Ensure correct levels and look for leaks in hoses and seals. Grease points: Apply fresh grease to bearings and joints to prevent wear.    2. Choose the Right Lubricant for Autumn Conditions Cooler temperatures can affect viscosity. Make sure you’re using lubricants suited for seasonal conditions. Ask us about what lubricants would be best for you. 3. Inspect Filters Replace fuel and oil filters to keep engines running efficiently. Dirty filters increase fuel consumption and reduce performance.    4. Prevent Moisture Damage Condensation in tanks and machinery can lead to rust and microbial growth. Use fuel additives and keep storage areas dry and well-sealed.    5. Schedule a Service Before Harvest Season For agricultural customers, March is the ideal time to prepare machinery for autumn work. A full service now means fewer breakdowns when you need equipment most.   Need expert advice on lubricants or maintenance products? McFall Fuel Secures Major bp Retail and Commercial Fuel Delivery Contract Across the North Island

McFall Fuel Secures Major bp Retail and Commercial Fuel Delivery Contract Across the North Island

on Jun 08 2026
McFall Fuel has secured a significant new contract with bp, further strengthening its position as one of New Zealand's leading fuel distributors and marking a major milestone in the company's ongoing growth journey. Under the contract, McFall Fuel will be responsible for delivering fuel to the majority of bp's retail and commercial networks across the North Island. The agreement significantly expands the company's operational footprint and reinforces its long-standing relationship with one of the world's most recognised fuel brands. The contract represents one of the largest commercial wins in McFall Fuel's history and reflects years of strategic investment in people, infrastructure, technology and service excellence. McFall Fuel CEO Stephen Fraser said the award was a testament to the capability and commitment of the company's team. "This contract is a significant milestone for McFall Fuel and reflects the confidence bp has placed in our people, our systems and our ability to deliver at scale." Founded more than 50 years ago, McFall Fuel has grown from a regional fuel distributor into one of New Zealand's largest independently owned fuel distributors, serving thousands of customers across multiple industries. The company has continued to evolve in response to customer needs, investing heavily in fleet capability, operational systems, safety standards and digital innovation. The new contract is expected to support further investment in McFall Fuel's people, fleet and operational infrastructure across the North Island, creating opportunities for growth and reinforcing the company's long-term commitment to New Zealand's transport, agriculture, construction, forestry, farming and commercial sectors. "We've always believed there is significant opportunity for McFall Fuel to continue growing and expanding our role within New Zealand's fuel supply chain. This contract is another important step in that journey," said Fraser. While the contract is a significant commercial achievement, Fraser said its greatest impact will be the opportunities it creates for the business and its people. "When we talk about growth, we're really talking about opportunity. Opportunity for our people to develop their careers, for us to invest in new technology and equipment, and for us to continue strengthening the communities and industries we serve." The agreement will see McFall Fuel further increase its operational presence throughout the North Island while maintaining its commitment to safe, reliable and customer-focused fuel delivery. The company believes the contract validates a long-term strategy focused on sustainable growth, operational excellence and customer service. "We're proud of what we've achieved, but we're even more excited about what's next. This contract gives us a platform to continue investing, innovating and growing as we work towards becoming New Zealand's most trusted fuel and energy solutions provider." As McFall Fuel enters its next phase of growth, the company remains committed to delivering the same values that have underpinned its success for more than five decades: safety, reliability, service and strong customer relationships.
